About Adaptive Sports Partners: I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of Adaptive Sports Partners, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through sports and recreation. Every day, I witness the incredible impact of our adaptive sports programs on the lives of our athletes. With a committed team by my side, we strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability to pay, has the opportunity to access the outdoors and experience the joy of recreation.

A Parent's Journey: On a deeply personal level, I understand the challenges that families like mine face. As the parent of an amazing kiddo, Callahan, who has a developmental disability, the past two years have been particularly challenging. Callahan has faced struggles in school both academically and behaviorally, leaving him unhappy and disconnected during the school week. As parents, we've felt lost, unsure of how to help him break free from this cycle.

The Power of Adaptive Sports: However, amidst these challenges, there's been a beacon of hope: adaptive sports. For Callahan, adaptive sports have been transformative. Whether he's skiing down slopes, scaling rock walls, or participating in other activities within our adaptive sports programs, he finds joy, confidence, and belonging in our adaptive sports community. Here, he's not just an athlete (although he loves calling himself one!); he's a proud member of a supportive and inclusive family. His success in adaptive sports has inspired him to explore other avenues of recreation, including participating in mainstream team sports like cross-country running and swim team, where he's finding success and camaraderie among his peers.  He is so proud of himself and confident in sport and recreation, which is such a relief for him from his daily school struggles. 

Building Community and Confidence: Adaptive Sports Partners isn't just about sports—it's about building community and fostering confidence. For me, and for countless other parents and caregivers, it's a lifeline. In this community, there's no judgment, only support and understanding. When I share the challenges Callahan faces, our community laughs, empathizes, and rallies around us, offering unwavering support and encouragement.
