Even though we weren’t actually related, Tommy Norcott was and always will be my Fun Uncle. He taught me many things about the world, my favorite being how to hold onto your inner child, choosing to never lose that inner magic in the way we experience the world around us. I grew up spending many a weekend at Tommy's house with my family either playing in the snow, exploring the trails nearby, or testing out the latest and greatest shiny new toy to appear in the shed!

One year, when he discovered an adaptive ski program nearby and told us (with a twinkle in his eye) that it was one of the most fun things he’s ever been part of, it was only natural that my family would check it out. From then on, my family came to visit often, and spent lots of time volunteering for the program. When Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country (now simply Adaptive Sports Partners, or ASP) was founded it was an easy choice to volunteer for the program.

Fast forward about a decade later to 2019 and I was fresh out of college looking for my next chapter in life. When I learned that ASP was going to be a host site for an AmeriCorps project, it was the easiest decision I had ever made to apply for the position and move to the North Country of NH!

A few years later, now I feel so lucky to be part of the organization as a Program Manager. The community is incredibly welcoming, and I get to spend time doing activities I love alongside so many people who feel the same way! 

This year, I would like to join Taylor Baird in both honoring Tommy’s memory with gratitude for introducing me to ASP, which enriches my life immensely, as well as raising awareness about suicide by joining Taylor on his journey to hike Mt. Washington, and supporting this incredible fundraiser for ASP.
