Those of you who have been my friends for a while now, may remember me as a regular at the gym, where I felt right at home peddling away on the
stationary bike or lifting weights with great enthusiasm.
Frequently referred to as “Brick House” back then, a nod to that old song by the Commodores, I was mighty and exhibited abs of steel.

As the only disabled person in the crowd, I showed myself and others there what a person with a physical disability using crutches could
look like and accomplish. Power, strength, and the ability to improve the body - all possible. In
my mind, I was simply embodying the example set by family members, a trait my dad referred to
as being “Dillenbeck Strong”.
 

Now, years later, I’m attempting something new. This fifty-something woman, with cerebral
palsy, has a body that’s a bit less “Brick House."  Time to change things up a bit. I’m combining
my love of fitness with my love of the outdoors in a unique way, by joining in an adaptive sports
event for the first time. Mount Washington, get ready! Please check it out. I hope you will
consider donating to me and my non-disabled teammates in realizing this new adventure.
Proceeds go to a cool organization, while benefiting fellow disabled athletes like me. Because,
we all deserve to feel mighty in our own way!
