What a pinch me moment this truly is, signing up Sasha once again for the Sunrise Ascent on Mt. Washington! This will be Sasha's 12th year involved with ASP and with this event. As the years move on and the impacts of Sasha's syndrome show more toll, I take a quiet assessment each spring to evaluate if she is still up for the ardours of this magnificent climb. While Sasha's twenty-eight year old body is slowing down, her spirit has not, and we've decided that 2026 will hold great things. The Sunrise Ascent is on top of that list.
Diagnosed with the rare genetic condition called Sanfilippo Syndrome as she approached nine years old, Sasha has experienced developmental delays with regression and more recently, progressive physical limitations from the syndrome. It is for these reasons were are forever grateful for the staff, volunteers, equipment, and devoted friendships we have made through Adaptive Sports Partners. If not for all of them, it would become near infinitely more difficulty to experience the beauty of the outdoors as a family, and to feel embraced in the inclusion of true community. We thank you for your financial contributions to this event, it helps cement in place the staff, volunteers, equipment and friendships to remain for Sasha and for all of those in our community who seek the involvement of Adaptive Sports in order to access the beauty in nature.
